Registrations to sit HPAT in 2026 are now open. You can register for HPAT by visiting the ACER website.
Detailed information regarding HPAT 2026, including how to register, book your test and sit HPAT, are available in the HPAT 2026 Information Booklet.
Here’s a summary of what you need to know.
1. Registrations close in January
Registrations to sit HPAT in 2026 are now open and will close 16 January 2026 at 5:15pm (GMT).
Late registrations will be accepted up to 26 January 2026 (subject to an additional late fee).
An exceptional late registration is available until 1 February 2026 (only applicable to those test takers who have submitted their application to the CAO by 31 January 2026).
The standard fee to sit HPAT is €164.
2. HPAT will take place from 13 - 22 February, and will run online
HPAT 2026 will take place over several days and time slots from Friday 13 February to Sunday 22 February 2026. It will take place online.
For further information, check out our blog on HPAT online.
3. You will need to register for HPAT on the ACER website
If you are applying for medicine you will first need to apply to the CAO for a CAO number. You can do this online at www.cao.ie
Next, to register to sit HPAT 2026, you will need to visit the ACER website: https://registration.acer.edu.au/ and create an online account. When creating an account, it is important that you provide an email address that you will check regularly and ensure that the name and date of birth you provide exactly matches the identification document you will use on test day. If you make a mistake and need to change your name, date of birth or gender in your account, you can email the HPAT-Ireland office directly.
You will then need to complete the registration form. In the section which asks which test you are registering for, make sure to select ‘Register for HPAT-Ireland 2026’. You will also need to confirm that you have read the HPAT-Ireland 2026 Information Booklet and that you agree to the terms and conditions.
After completing the form, submit details of your payment. You will receive a registration confirmation and payment receipt once your payment and registration are successful and this will be sent to your registered email address.
4. Book a HPAT testing session via ProctorU
Bookings are now open for HPAT. You will be able to choose your preferred testing date and time via ProctorU. ProctorU is the organisation that will be supervising and administering the online HPAT on behalf of ACER.
To book a ProctorU test session, log into your ACER account, then select the Log in to ProctorU option on the homepage under Schedule, Update or Sit your test session.
MedEntry recommends booking a testing slot as soon as possible. This will ensure you are able to secure a testing date and time that best suits you.
Further details will be released by ACER over the coming weeks. Make sure you follow MedEntry on social media for updates!
