About Oswald Avery
Oswald Avery was born in 1877 in Canada. Avery was one of the first molecular biologists and was a pioneer in immunochemistry, but he is best known for his discovery in 1944 that DNA is the material of which genes and chromosomes are made. He is known as one of the most deserving scientists not to receive the Nobel Prize for his work.
Criteria
This bursary is awarded to students with outstanding and demonstrated academic activities (eg. science Olympiads), who receive offers to medical schools.
This bursary is available to one student from Ireland each year.
Value
Up to €500.

- Evidence of outstanding academic achievements (eg. copies of certificates)
- Certified copy of enrolment in a medical degree program in Ireland
- Proof of enrolment in a MedEntry HPAT course
